What are your dominant sensing abilities?
Do you know when your intuition is guiding you?
Here is a great guide of the 4 most common sensing channels that you may experience.
Clairvoyance means clear seeing.
This is when visions past, present and future flash through our mind’s eye, or third eye, much like a daydream. You often have a strong visual memory, and can recognize the sight of something or someone, but not always remember a name.
When working in a Reiki session, you may see random images appear in your mind, or actually see there person’s energy field and chakra colours as you are working on them. A soft glow may catch your eye of an area that needs attention.
Clairaudience means clear hearing.
This is when we hear words, sounds or music in our own mind’s voice. On rare occasions, spirit may be able to create audible sound, though this takes a tremendous amount of focused energy.
When working in a Reiki session, you may hear message from guides float through your mind, or hear when to move on or stay longer in a position. Some of us best retain and comprehend information when we hear it spoken aloud.
Clairsentience means clear feeling.
This entails feeling a person’s or spirit’s emotions or feeling another’s physical pain. Many of us are clairsentient without consciously being aware of it. When we get a strong “gut” feeling, positive or negative, about someone we just met or when we get the “chills” for no apparent reason, we may be tuning into the emotional energy of a person or a spirit around us.
When working in a Reiki session, you may have a feeling of emotion well up within you. This can possibly feel overwhelming to you at first. You may feel drawn to go to a specific hand position or hold it longer for no particular reason other than it just feels good to do so.
Claircognizance means clear knowing.
This is when we have knowledge of people or events that we would not normally have knowledge about. Spirit impresses us with truths that simply pop into our minds from out of nowhere. An example of this would be a premonition: a forewarning of something that will happen in the future. Claircognizance requires tremendous faith because there’s often no practical explanation for why we suddenly “know” something.
When working in a Reiki session, you will likely have a strong inner knowing about what needs to transpire. A snippet of information pops into your mind, even though it may not make sense at the time, you know it likely holds value for the person you are working on.
Compliments and recognition to Rebecca Rosen who wrote so beautifully about these sensing abilities over on the Oprah blog.
