Clear Your Mind & Stay Focused in a Session

Sometimes it’s just plain hard to keep your mind clear or focused on the task at hand.
Especially if you are giving a Reiki or energy session. For some people, staying focused on 1 single breath can be challenging let alone trying to keep your mind still for an entire 60 or 90 minute session. In Reiki sessions, there is no talking, just looong moments of focusing. Holding each position for 3-5 minutes at a time…. trying not to let the mind wander between each new hand position.

Unless you have mastered the art of meditation to flawless perfection, keeping your mind focused and clear might be a wee bit tricky.

When I work, I have the most positive intention of giving 100% of my time and attention to each client. Yet even after 12 years of experience, I still catch my mind wandering. In that moment, I don’t criticize myself but lean toward gentle encouragement of tuning back into the energy happening between my client and I.

Here are my recommendations to help keep your mind as clear as possible and focused on your session:

1. Mindful Mantras
If you do need to give a task to your mind to avoid wondering what to make for dinner or if you are “doing this right”, try thinking a simple mantra or loving intention over and over.
My favourites:
“Love surrounds and heals you.”
“Your body naturally heals itself.”
“May you be at peace.”
“Love. Joy. Trust. Peace.”

2. Focus on the Feeling: LOVE

You can never ever go wrong with focusing on Love. It is the root of what we are doing – channeling energetic love.
Try to have the actual feeling of love swell up within you, then share it with the other person. Imagine the energy traveling from your heart, through your hands and into the energy field of the person you are working on.
You will find you’ll start feeling overwhelmingly fulfilled and in joy as you do this (because you are receiving so much love from the universe and your guides).

3. Breathe Clarity into your Mind

Focusing on your inhalation and exhalation is very meditative.
The simple act of slowly breathing in…… and breathing out….. will put your mind, body and energy in a state of peace and well-being. This calmness will be felt by your client’s energy field and what a beautiful feeling to share with them.

Imagine yourself breathing in Love and exhaling Love. Pure magic.

These tips can be applied to anything you are doing in life.

Remember: If all else fails…. just Love.
